It’s a route that requires tactical planning instead of Kipchoge’s usual but extraordinary gift for speed. It begins with a descent, almost 26km of downhill running, before it gets crazy, with roughly 8 km worth of rib-kicking uphills, followed by a downhill stretch and an even, sea-level run to the finish. The Boston course is hilly, the weather inclement. Though he trains in the highlands of Kenya, with its steep elevation changes, Kipchoge’s favourite races, London and Berlin, and even Tokyo, feature flat routes and pleasant running weather. The course in Boston, a 42.16 km stretch from Hopkinton to Back Bay, is a not the kind of route Kipchoge is used to, at least competitively. Yet, it could almost have been predicted. For Kipchoge, those moments of (relative) failure almost never come, which is why the Boston sixth place finish creates waves. ![]() It is hard to remember, especially when it comes to someone like Kipchoge, that all athletes are bound to have a bit of an off day at some point in their career, that every runner in the history of the sport has had races where they could not do their best. In sports, you win and you lose and there is always tomorrow to set a new challenge. I want to congratulate my competitors and thank everyone in Boston and from home for the incredible support I am so humbled to receive. I pushed myself as hard as I could but sometimes, we must accept that today wasn’t the day to push the barrier to a greater height. The speculations were fuelled by his absence at the press conference post the Boston Marathon on 17 April, though Kipchoge released a statement via his social media soon after: “I live for the moments where I get to challenge the limits. Which brings us to the question-what went wrong for him in Boston? Is it a sign for him to hang up his boots? Will he fall short of his self-set goal of winning all six marathon majors-Boston, where he made his debut in this race New York, where he is yet to run to add to the four he was won already: Chicago, Berlin, Tokyo and London? What status of his desire to win a third Olympic gold in Paris next year? Kipchoge has two Olympic gold medals and has won 17 of the 20 marathons he has run in his career.Īny way you look at it, Kipchoge is super-human. That was in 2019, in a race that was designed to aid Kipchoge in running as fast as possible. ![]() He has, of course, pulled off the greatest unofficial timing ever, when he ran a marathon under the 2-hour mark, a time once described as beyond human capability. That’s 30 seconds shaved off his previous record, which itself had broken the earlier record by a barely-believable minute and 18 seconds. He may be 38 years old, pushing the age limit for an elite athlete, but it was only last year in Berlin that he broke his own world record yet again, setting the bar at 2 hours 1 minute and 9 seconds. ![]() Kipchoge is the undisputed emperor of the distance-running world. Further information on the WLTP and NEDC measurement procedures is also available at bmw.de/wltp.įor further details of the official fuel consumption figures and official specific CO2 emissions of new cars, please refer to the following web site Kipchoge is the greatest marathon runner of all time-there is so little doubt about that imperious statement that the Kenyan great finishing sixth at a major marathon becomes bigger news than the Kenyan, Evans Chebet, who managed to win one of the trickiest races in the world twice in a row. WLTP values are used as a basis for the definition of taxes and other vehicle-related levies that are (also) based on CO2 emissions and, where applicable, for the purposes of vehicle- specific subsidies. NEDC values listed have been calculated back to the NEDC measurement procedure where applicable. For ranges, the NEDC figures take into account differences in the selected wheel and tyre size, while the WLTP figures take into account the effects of any optional equipment.Īll figures are already calculated on the basis of the new WLTP test cycle. They refer to vehicles on the automotive market in Germany. Fuel consumption, CO2 emission figures and power consumption were measured using the methods required according to Regulation VO (EC) 2007/715 as amended.

The program is quick enough to zip files: on a decent-specification Windows 7 machine it managed to process around 180 Megabytes in a minute. In practice its zipped files are indeed consistently smaller, though by how much is very variable and dependent on the type of file concerned. The main selling-point of the application is a custom 7z format which is billed as creating files up to 40 percent smaller than those of more common zipping techniques. It's also capable of working with a wide variety of formats, including a couple that are mainly used on Linux computers, making this a handy utility for those with a dual-boot set-up. There's certainly nothing to complain about with the software: it works reliably and doesn't cause any performance problems or crashes. 7-Zip certainly holds its own but it struggles to stand out on anything but price. There are changes in code for the drag-and-drop operations to and from 7-Zip File Manager.Īnd the drag-and-drop operation with right button of mouse now is supported for some cases. As faster internet connections and bigger hard drives mean files sizes continue to increase, the world of zipping utilities is a crowded market. There are optimizations in code for 7-Zip's context menu in Explorer: the speed of preparing of the menu showing was improved for cases when big number of files were selected by external program for context menu that contains 7-Zip menu commands. It allows to avoid the failures for cases with big number of volumes, bacause there is a limitation for number of open files allowed for a single program in Linux and macOS. Previous versions kept all volumes in open state until the end of the archive creation.ħ-Zip for Linux and macOS now can reduce the number of simultaneously open files, when 7-Zip opens, extracts or creates multivolume archive. When new 7-Zip creates multivolume archive, 7-Zip keeps in open state only volumes that still can be changed. Some changes and optimizations in WIM creation code. It can increase compression ratio for executable files larger than 64 MiB. Previous versions by default used x86 filter BCJ or BCJ2 for all exe/dll files.ĭefault section size for BCJ2 filter was changed from 64 MiB to 240 MiB. ARM64 filter can increase compression ratio for data containing executable files compiled for ARM64 (AArch64) architecture.Īlso 7-Zip now parses executable files (that have exe and dll filename extensions) before compressing, and it selects appropriate filter for each parsed file:īCJ or BCJ2 filter for x86 executable files, "Do not change source files last access time".ħ-Zip now can use new ARM64 filter for compression to 7z and xz archives.New "Options" window in "Add to archive" allows to select what metadata must be included to archive. ![]() New option "Propagate Zone.Id stream" in Tools/Options/7-Zip menu.New -snz switch to propagate Zone.Identifier stream to extracted files (Windows).-snon : store owner/group names in archive.-snoi : store owner/group ids in archive or set owner/group ids from archive to extracted files.New switches for Linux version for TAR archives:.7-Zip now can store additional file timestamps with high precision (1 ns in Linux) in tar/pax archives with the following switches:.7-Zip now can create TAR archives in POSIX (pax) tar format with the switches.7-Zip now can extract APFS (Apple File System) images that can be used in DMG files. You can also alternate between a single or dual-pane view. 7-Zip also integrates with the Windows Explorer menus, displaying archive files as folders and providing a toolbar with drag-and-drop functions. For example, the Extract button lets you easily browse for or accept the default destination directory for your file, while the View menu contains a Folder History, and the Favorites menu lets you save up to ten folders. The main toolbar contains 7-Zip’s most used features and there are several menus that allow you to dig deeper within. 7-ZipĪfter you effortlessly download and launch 7-Zip, you’ll quickly discover its simple and easy to navigate interface. ![]() If a zip tool gains its appeal from its ability to efficiently compress files, then 7-Zip proves it has a little bit o’ magic. And 7-Zip boosts its very own 7z archive format that also offers a significantly higher compression ratio than its peers-up to 40% higher! This is mainly because 7-Zip uses LZMA and LZMA2 compression, with strong compression settings and dictionary sizes, to slow but vastly improve density. You don't need to register or pay for 7-Zip.ħ-Zip is a file archiver with a high compression ratio for ZIP and GZIP formats, which is between 2 to 10% better than its peers, depending on the exact data tested. You can use 7-Zip on any computer, including a computer in a commercial organization. 7-Zip is a file archiver with a high compression ratio. Here you can download the latest version of 7-Zip. ![]() Of course the bark is of a different color, but it will blend with the old bark in a few years. A large ugly knob did not develop because of the deep concave cut and Cut Paste application. When the bonsai was returned on March 23, 2018, we noticed that the wound was completely covered with callus tissue. ![]() Usually the wound is covered with new bark in about a year. This technique works great on maples and other deciduous species. The open fresh wound was then sealed with Cut Paste wound sealant. A sharp curved knob cutter was used to make a deep concave cut on the trunk. Before transplanting we removed several large branches about an inch in diameter, which were not necessary for future development. On March 25, 2016, Elmer Dustman brought his Japanese maple bonsai to an Open Workshop for transplanting. A new front and branches will be developed during the next few years. The bonsai was then potted in a large oval mica training pot for future development. This time Elmer carefully and precisely used a sharp hand saw to cut away the extra trunk so in the future the bonsai could be planted in a shallower container. Upon inspection after removing additional soil we noticed that the original trunk could be reduced by about another two inches. The outside temperature was a little below 30F, (wish it were 30C), so the newly removed bonsai was taken inside for potting. Elmer used the Sawzall, Harvey Carapella held the root ball and I directed the operation. The tree was then taken outdoors to a work area and the old root system and damaged trunk section were removed with a reciprocating Sawzall. Fortunately the layer worked and a good size new root system was formed in less than one year and was supporting the trunk and branch structure. He carefully removed the tree from the large plastic pot and removed most of the soil from the root system. On Friday, March 23, 2017, Elmer Dustman returned for an Open Workshop with his Japanese maple bonsai which was damaged a year ago. Then soil was added to the container and the tree was allowed to grow vigorously for one year on April 1, 2017. Before planting the entire tree, a ball of long-fibered sphagnum moss was wrapped around the layered area. Usually an air layer would be used, but since the area was not that high we simply layered the tree and he planted the bonsai in a 7 gallon plastic pot. Then the area was moistened with water and dusted with a root inducing hormone. ![]() First a clean wound was made using a curved knob cutter. We removed a clean section of the eaten bark where the live tissue was growing and layered the tree. All the bark on the trunk was girdled including the first branch, which was eaten, and he thought the bonsai was ruined and dead.īut I had an idea. Last year my friend Elmer Dustman brought a Japanese maple bonsai he has been training for about 20 years to one of my Open Workshops. When he took it out of the enclosed box all he had was an eaten two inch tall trunk stripped of bark! He keeps all of his smaller bonsai in a box filled with Styrofoam packing peanuts. One friend had a beautiful developed shohin Zelkova bonsai he trained in a perfect broom style for about 30 years. And, I have also seen other deciduous bonsai as well as evergreen species stripped of bark. Rodents love to eat deciduous bonsai, especially maples. In Northern areas, where your bonsai must be protected from the cold winter temperatures and wind, it is heart breaking to remove your bonsai from winter protection only to find damaged trees. This is a topic for a future blog post, “dancing with bonsai.” These must be carefully maintained now in order not to lose an entire year’s growth. Our bonsai think its Spring and have begun to grow, especially maples. Although Spring is officially here, we are still experiencing 21F nighttime temperatures with snow of course. ![]() Corvette's can outmaneuver and sink about any ship and stocked primarily with mortars can even take ports. I usually have room to spare for additional cargo I might pick up or trade with my War Galleons.Ĭorvette's are a lot of fun too so long as you're not looking to capture larger ships though fully upgraded you'll have enough crew to capture a War Galleon. The limited capacity is particularly frustrating when attacking ports. Less cargo capacity means less ammunition when going up against larger ships you need to chip away at. Smaller ships can outrun and outmaneuver you sometimes without you even getting one broadside in. Second favorite ship for me is the Man O'war but it just feels too sluggish and way too slow to turn especially upwind even alternating front and back sails. Once it surrendered just loaded up crew from both Galleons plus had a second fully loaded ship on hand if I ran out of munitions. Took out the sails with chain shot then mortared the 1st-rate till the hull was severely weakened then very carefully approached the back of the ship where there are no canons being careful not to get boarded to take out the crew with Grape shot. The second War Galleon was just for the crew I needed. I captured my first 1st-rate with two War Galleons. I enjoy the game mechanics a lot more when I'm using the War Galleon. The War Galleon requires more hands on management of the various points of sailing when going after significantly smaller or larger ships but it can handle everything and the increased micromanagement of every point of sailing is actually a fun challenge. They make for very well defended trade ships as they have so much cargo capacity. If you're good with mortars you can capture even the most heavily defended ports and take down all ships with one War Galleon. It's sturdy enough to go toe to toe with the larger Man O'war and 2nd-rate's and if you're very carful even 1st-rates. It's fast and nimble enough to keep up with even the smaller speedier ships if you make sure to be at Full Sails NOT Battle Sails and give your crew rum. If the game on Windows Store crashes or wont install or update please try to clear Windows Store cache as described in this article: My favorite all-purpose ship is the War Galleon fully upgraded. story-driven campaign set in a living world full of people. unlimited number of sea battles of few types (merchants, smugglers, convoys, militatry, treasure galeon, pirate fight, escort) hundreds of islands and dozens of ports realistic sailing model, distances and time passage 20 captain skills - unlicking new game features and possibilities ![]() character development, experience gaining and level ups special weapons: explosive barrels, burning oil, battering rams, pre-boarding attacks 5 types of ammo - cannon balls, chain bals, grapeshots bombs, doubles, ship to fort fights with heavy mortars. multiple ships control during the fights Hoist the Jolly Roger and grab the steering wheel to sail through battles and raids, ransoms and treasures, to become the Crimson King of the Antilles! It is possible to manually sketch out the steps in a process. The second is what the process will be once improvements have been made. The first is the process as it currently exists without implementing any changes. It does this by mapping two different iterations of a given process. ![]() Next, business process modeling is used to identify improvements in an organization’s business processes or workflows. ![]() This is typically achieved by using business process modeling tools like flowcharts and universal business modeling process notation (also known as BPMN). In this post, we explain how business process modeling techniques give you the knowledge to improve performance across your enterprise. It allows the creator to visualize a more efficient process. Great organizations continually improve their processes over time, striving to make them as efficient and cost-effective as possible. ![]() Tirpitz acted as a fleet in being, forcing the British Royal Navy to retain significant naval forces in the area to contain the battleship. This was the only feasible role for her, since the St Nazaire Raid had made operations against the Atlantic convoy lanes too risky. While stationed in Norway, Tirpitz was also intended to be used to intercept Allied convoys to the Soviet Union, and two such missions were attempted in 1942. In early 1942, the ship sailed to Norway to act as a deterrent against an Allied invasion. Īfter completing sea trials in early 1941, Tirpitz briefly served as the centrepiece of the Baltic Fleet, which was intended to prevent a possible break-out attempt by the Soviet Baltic Fleet. After a series of wartime modifications she was 2000 tonnes heavier than Bismarck, making her the heaviest battleship ever built by a European navy. Like her sister ship, Bismarck, Tirpitz was armed with a main battery of eight 38-centimetre (15 in) guns in four twin turrets. Work was completed in February 1941, when she was commissioned into the German fleet. Named after Grand Admiral Alfred von Tirpitz, the architect of the Kaiserliche Marine (Imperial Navy), the ship was laid down at the Kriegsmarinewerft Wilhelmshaven in November 1936 and her hull was launched two and a half years later. Tirpitz ( German pronunciation: ( listen)) was the second of two Bismarck-class battleships built for Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine (navy) prior to and during the Second World War.
